I thought I should add this section since I plan to keep the contests coming. I'll primarily use this to showcase anything that I've personally made for the contests. Kumite I The Reigning Champion Yuki no Kuro Uma based off of Wolverine and the Irrepressible Dark Horse. It's his head afterall. Here's the official weapon set made for the winner of the tournament. He got the stand too. The backdrop was 4 pieces of balsa wood with a brown wash on foamboard with some scrolls I printed out. The one on the left says 'inner strength', the one on the right says 'fighting'. Everybody who entered received an invitation scroll (Kumite) for their fighter. I made 5 complete weapon sets. I should have made one for myself to keep. I also made the brass knuckles for 2 of the guys who had a personal bet on the contest.

holy christ, Doug, even if you stopped customizing figures altogether someday all this kind of detailed stuff would still rank you as one of the most versatile customizers on the board

Thanks guys! Everybody has that one thing they like to customize. The Kumite contest is definitely my favorite custom project of the year. I love the challenge of making new accessories and putting the whole 'show' together is very rewarding for me.
I'm finishing up the tutorials for the training equipment now.

If there were a Bank of Win, you'd be the majority depositor, man. Awesome stuff all around. Next time I get an itch to do a ninja, I'm entering him in this tournament of yours.

The Kumite contests aren't just for ninja even though that's how this contest originated. Any fighter from any culture can participate. There's a heavily eastern theme because that's my thing and it takes inspiration from movies like Enter the Dragon and Blood Sport, and video games like Mortal Kombat, Tekken, and Virtua Fighter. Really, any type of fighter you could think of could work just as long as it fits in the Joe Universe. The only things I haven't allowed (yet) are super powers, explosives, and lasers/energy weapons. Those will be allowed in the Special Edition Kumite that I'm going to hold at Slayer in September.

Shit man. I made a fighter but with all the crap happening at the time I never took pics. Still haven't. This makes 2 rounds I missed out on this epic awesomeness. Amazing stuff really.

No worries, man. There's going to be even more opportunities to get in the game. New tournaments are coming - Kumite: Special Edition (Slayer 2011), Kumite III (Hisstank 2012), and hopefully Kumite: JC (JoeCustoms 2012). ST6? Yeah, it's coming here too in 2012. If anyone has suggestions for what they'd like to see in future tournaments, I want to hear them.
