I haven't actually played in years. I have tried to fashion a few quests, modules, and articles here and there though.
I like the d20 system alright, I really like the Cortex system too.
A friend of mine is wanting to revise an rpg that they had made up ages ago and start playing again. Can't remember what the setting was, I think it was kind of modernish though.
I've thought about getting into play by post (PbP) games, but don't completely understand how they are ran. Which means its prob really simple I'm just making it harder than it is.
Anyway, I just wondered what games you guys played. And do you guys get to play regular or are you like me and just think about it from time to time?

None, a couple buddies tried to start up D&D but nothing came of it. I was a Rogue.

I think ST6 should get a game going using "microsoft meet" or whatever the hell they call it.
tele conference and white board, just need an dice roller and we'd be set.
seg, don't forget about our other game, its not off the grid, yet, lol.

I (when I am not living 40 miles from my players) run GURPS. I have my own campaign setting that I have developed over the years. I have played many others over the years. Started out with old school Dungeons and Dragons. Then played WEG Star Wars, some FASA Star Trek (though mainly the combat simulator with miniatures), some Vampire, Alot of RIFTS and other Palladium stuff. I loved Stormbringer/Elric. Wanted to run Call of Cthulhu but rarely had players interested in that game system, so the Cthulhu Mythos became HUGE part of my GURPS campaign universe instead. I have played many other p&p rpgs, but can't remember them all.

I like the play a number of games.
With D&D, like it old-school, but I enjoys some modern concepts, like the d20 to-hit system, and the Will/Fort/Ref saves. I like to use a retro-clone called Basic Fantasy, as handles both nicely. I just like to keep thing smooth and simple! This is also a free game, you can download off the internet.
I also really like they craziness of classic Gamma World. This game plays out like one of Jack Kirby's 70's post-apocalyptic comics! Its a wild-ass setting, with B-movie-styled technology, crazy mutants, and lots of high-adventure, that you would not otherwise get with a more gritty post-apocalyptic game.
When I found out that some one was making a "near-retro clone" of GW by the generic name of Mutant Future, I jumped at the chance at joining the project - its decorated with my artwork! You can also find this game for free off the net.
I really enjoy the simplicity, and openendedness of Barbarians of Lemuria! Its a simple point-based system, with a skill system more tided to heroic archetypes, them a large list of skills. It also counts the Chainmail Bikini as a reasonable amount of protection! Who awesome it that? I only have the older, free version.
Its not technically a role-playing game, but I play the HeroQuest boardgame like one! Its such an easy and awesome game, that I houseruled it to the point of being an RPG-lite.
I usually make my own setting, but a setting I really enjoy, is from a booklet called (OD&D) Supplement V: Carcosa. Its a strange world, with lots of Lovecraftian horrors, mutant dinosaurs, B-movie aliens, a sorcery system this is too much for some players, and 13 races of humans (each a different color - some alien) who are at the bottom of a nasty food-chain!!! Its quite a fun and unique Sword & Sorcery setting, if you are not bothered by a few unspeakable atrocities.
I play others, but that enough for now!

Carcosa you say? I have not played D&D in ages, however a supplement like that would get me playing again! Carcosa/Hastur/Yellow King mythology were major themes in a space based GURPS campaign I ran for a decade, well still kinda running it off and on.

Carcosa/Hastur/Yellow King mythology were major themes in a space based GURPS campaign I ran for a decade, well still kinda running it off and on. Just be forewarned, the spells used in that game are vary ritualistic (in that you have to run around the map finding obscure ingredients, and preform elaborate tasks, with little or no game mechanics to deal with - its all just role-playing) and number of them require the caster do horrible things - like skinning live babes, and the like. There are no fireball or healing effects - just the power to ward-off/contact/summon/bind/torment eldrich horrors! I got a link to the site: carcosa-geoffrey.blogspot.com/Its also good to read the reviews on that site so you know what its all about, and to check out The Carcosan Grimoire for extra content: www.apolitical.info/carcosa/By the way, the rules maybe early D&D by default, but its loose enough to be played with any system.

Ahhh ok that is where I saw your username before! Over at Joecustoms wth your FS:2050! I don't get to do much p&p rpgs much these days. Most my players live 30 miles away. Though have been tempted to start new campaign to inspire new customs. (Also in hopes that I eventually find more players nearby.)
