So I found by complete chance a comic pack at the local Target (A-fuckin'-mazing). Here's a short review. First off we have good ol' ornery Shipwreck: A repaint of his first figure only this one has a life-vest, Cutter anyone. It's a good idea, why wouldn't a sailor have a life-vest, but the reality is it just doesn't fair well in the grand scheme of things. The real gem of the pack is Copperhead. The good: This is a great figure. CH uses Roadblocks chest and arms with new legs and a spot on kick-ass head sculpt. He has a removable shoulder gear (with a dead mold holster) and his belt, while not removable, is a separate piece. The colors are perfect, original colors only more subdued. The legs are some of the best work paint wise Hasbro's done. They feature a brown wash over them giving CH the look of a guy who wades around in the muck of a swamp. The not-so-good: The only downfall are the hands, while someone else pointed out that they work for holding a boat steering wheel, this guy doesn't fit into the Water Moccasin to begin with. He also comes with an M4, I don't know about you guys but I see him more with a sawed off Marauder shotgun. My plans: I'm hoping to get the time to try my hand at hollowing out the head to make the helmet removable. I won't even try until I have a head that fits the CH feel. Sorry the pics aren't fancy all my dio shit is still in boxes.

on hollowing out the head for the helmet: it's almost big enough to be a helmet but the head underneath needs to be small-ish, like Rollbar/SAW Viper or Red Zone or MAYBE Salvo (also used for the MC mail-in Copperhead) to make it work. Yeah, that goes for the new Wild Weasel too.
as for the repaint of Shipwreck, I like the white on black better than the classic light blue & darker blue but the midnight blue dixie cup and leather brown gloves don't work (the shoes are okay though in that color).

Copperhead's awesome, I love that he's a head taller than Roadblock. I think he might be the tallest figure yet. Shipwreck, pure fodder. And who called Cutter being comic pack Shipwreck with a different head? This guy.

But the new Cutter figure from the TRU set is not just a straight-up Shipwreck repaint with a different head AND Cutter in the classic color scheme is in the comic alongside Shipwreck in his spiffy white shirt, so your prediction was off the mark on two counts.

Close enough. I knew it'd be Shipwreck's body & that life jacket with a different head. They could've feasibly used the entire Shipwreck. Who's arms are those anyway? TF Flint? Hell, minute I saw the vest on Shippy I knew Cutter wasn't far behind.

I saw someone paint up a Shark 9000 as a Water Moccasin mk2. If I ever stumble across a cheap one I might do that.

oh that IS cool.
That color scheme completely transformed that vehicle into a whole different species of transport.
I've seen the Shark 9000 repainted a few times in tactical colors and it always works but the Water Mocassin II there is the best of them. And it looks like 25A Copperhead has NO problems fitting whatsoever.
Who repainted it, Dave?

I didn't know he did made vehicles too.
He does follow through on not joining a board after he warns that he probably won't even though he agrees to sign up.

LOL, that was just very hard to follow. Chief is very talented, he does fun stuff to boot, I peaked at his dio stuff over on JC the other day, man, he must have the best joe room.

I don't care if that made sense, I was venting.
Chief said he'd join ST6 in Canada. Then warned me he probably wouldn't afterall in a PM a week later. Then said he would after I reminded him another 2 weeks later and once again agreed so he [and I quote] "didn't look like a lying asshole" and then never did join up anyway.
Yeah that pissed me off months ago so I decided to bitch here finally.

Guess you just cant peal some of those guys away from JC. Shame really.

don't write him off too quickly, he's a busy man, wait til he retires and has time to see all the fun behinds the scenes stuff on all the boards, I like the guy and hope he eventually comes over,

I like him too, he's cool guy to talk with and his work is top-notch.
But he really just dissed us so I can't really care if he ever does make it over here afterall.
He knows it's Brian that runs the site, he knows this is a board we started just to let loose, but crapped out on us anyway.

Huh.
I dont know why I never thought of this before.
Shipwreck would have to be a SEAL. You are not allowed to have facial hair in the Navy (maybe a mustache). Only the SF guys are allowed to have beards or goatees.

Version 2 Shipwreck was a SEAL. I don't believe the original figure made any mention though.

not sure if shipwreck was active duty, Brian.
IN the cartoon, he certainly was not.

I never understood the the fan hostility to the idea of Shipwreck as a SEAL. yeah, the SEAL idea didn't come up untill 1994 when the dive suit figure was released and since then you a lot more people in the camp that just can't tolerate the idea than the small number who are cool with it (or actually like the idea). I dunno if people just like him better in the dungarees and the stupid dixie cup or if it's honest uncceptance of him going through SEAL training at all but it's not a highly regarded concept.

I liked the 94 Shipwreck. I made my first SEALs from that figure (and Undertow)
Personally, I have no problem with him being a SEAL. GI Joe is supposed to be active military. The no facial hair is for all branches. Only SF guys are allowed to sport it.
And I hated wearing that dixie cup.
