This is the first time I've shown anyone other than my wife and kids this so please be honest and tell me the truth.... I'm posting it here instead of the Dented Helmet forums first! lol.... I got the templates from them, printed them out and transfered it to cardboard I stole out of the local recycling bin and then used bondo to seal, harden, and smooth out the dome on top. Here is the pic of the helmet's base: And the ear or side pieces and the rangefinder stem. I have yet to build the actual rangefinder.... When it's all finished I should have a 1/1 scale close to screen acurate ESB helmet. I don't think I'm going to machine in the dent however... too dificult a process for the first time around. I'm having enough trouble just geting my bondo to sculpt out smooth on the dome as is. SO what do you guys think? ??

I think its neat.
I looked at making a visitors helmet recently, this sort of thing is outside my current ability.
Is it going to be a display, for cosplay, scaring the mailman?

I started the project just to see if I could do it. If I actually finish the complete costume I'll probably set up a full size fett statue with it. Of course it would all be wearable as well so all three options are open I have some ideas for the jetpack that I realy want to try. I made a prototype last year for halloween that could be pressurized with an air compressor, then had a hose leading to on of the gauntlets hooked up to a blow valve that shot nerf darts. My idea takes that to the next level. Making a screen acurate jetpack with a pressure tank inside it that has a hose attached to the gauntlet to shoot darts, a hose attached down to the knee to shoot darts and build a custom foam rocket to go on top of the jetpack hooked to a larger electronicly activated valve so that when I hit a button it would launch off the back. My delima is how to presurize the thing. I've used handpumps in the past to presurize my potato cannons but that takes a while if it's a large pressure tank... or I could mcguiver a small air compressor into the backpack..... anyway.. now I'm rambling.

I plan on a whole suit... eventually. I doubt it will be anytime soon. I won't be able to scratch build the jumpsuit so I'll be saving my money for a good screen acurate one. Everything else Ithink I can scratch build.

What paint scheme should I do this in?? Animated debut, ESB, ROTJ, Jango, Comic version??
I think I'm just going to do a normal fett ROTJ paint scheme but I am kind of wanting to do something original too...

I've only ever seen one other costume online done in the animated scheme.... so I'm seriously considering it. not to mention I think making the staff would be cool too.
