Well, it has begun. My wonderful wife came up with the best idea ever, to do the slave 1 repaint in the animated debut color scheme. She wanted to be a part of this project so we collaborated together on how we would go about it and I wound up finding two old micromachine slave 1 ships, so I let her do a prototype mock up of the color scheme with one of them before we even thought about starting on the action fleet ship. We mixed our own colors from testors enamel model paints to match the colors of the action figure as best we could. As she painted the prototype micromachine I popped apart the minifigure boba fett from the action fleet line and painted him to match the larger action figure. enough talk, I'll let the pictures talk: Well, tell me what you think. Remember this is just the beggining there will be more to come. We have started spray painting the base coats of the action fleet ship and will start painting it soon.

starting the base coats and spray painting the parts of the action fleet slave 1. It was interesting how it broke down into modular pieces. I find it interesting to see how the toy designers put it together. It was actually realy simple. There is also plenty of space on the inside to put button cell batteries and LED's so I'm looking into getting that together and learning more about resistors and such to do that more efficiently. Of course I'll add more pics to this thread as we work on this project.

Yeah she's a keeper. We amazingly have alot of things in common and doing projects like these is a real highlight of our relationship. If you can find someone that you can relate to like that and you can be yourself and not be ashamed that your 21 or older still playing with kids toys and are a total geek then your doing a pretty good job I think! lol.

finished it up, almost. there are a few spots of paint which need a touch up, the screws need to be put in to hold it together, and I need to put 2 sticker decals back into the cockpit which I took out when painting. Otherwise it's finished. a break down of what we did: Dawn (wifey) painted the main colors, mixed all the colors and came up with the idea. She did the outer hull and all of the details on the wings. I myself did the engine detailings and the cockpit details as well as the initial spray paint base coats, and taking the thing apart and getting all of it prepped and ready for working on. I also repainted the minifigure. well here is the finished product: ^that is one of the decals which I removed from the cockpit inside sides, I will be putting that back in before I put the ship back together permenantly. I'm realy happy with the engine details... it looks so much better than the original I think. and there you have it folks, please tell us what you think. I know my wife is anctious to hear your thoughts.

Very nice, much better than the production one. You brought out a ton of detail on it.
