I finally got ahold of a scarlett today. And I started work on this fig. I call it the mando huntress... Havn't realy figured out a backstory yet though. So here are a few pics to wet yall's appetite. Since Scarlett is known for the crossbow I found it only fitting to give the huntress a crossbow SW style... The crossbow can be slung behind her back and around the backpack as you can see I had to give her a hair cut to allow the helmet to fit. SO what do you think? also do you think anything needs to be changed paint wise? I think the jetpack from the animated boba fett fit realy well but the helmet from jango doesn't fit well color wise... any suggestions?

Paintwise? Oh yeah. You need to paint the whole thing there bro, it looks like Scarlett just stepped out of a Sci-fi convention otherwise. As far as what color, gee, just about anything will look good I think.

lol I figured you'd say that. I've got to get some new paints before I can paint anything.... I'm tired of my stinking enamels never drying and remaining sticky.

ENAMEL PAINT? enamel!? dude, I think I just figured out what equates "blasphemy" on the SEAL Team 6 board. NEVER mention those 2 words together again. Ever! nevermind that they're 1000 times WRONG to use on any figures Hasbro makes (vehicles maybe but even that's questionable) but it tells me we're doing a bad job teaching our members anything at all. Spud, do me a favor RIGHT NOW and leave the computer, go throw every last bottle of that shit in the glass bottles into the trash bin where they belong, and then go buy yourself some new paints. ACRYLIC PAINTS! And not that goddamn Appel Barrel or Americana brand nonsense from Walmart; I mean go buy some goddamn Citadel or Pollyscale, or Testors acrylics. Brian, help me talk some sense into this guy! Where the fuck is Dion when we really need him?

Indeed. The first figure I ever painted, I used enamel paint. Its (and this is NOT a joke) took two years to FINALLY become non-sticky and I think that is ONLY because it absorbed enough dust from the air to coat over it. Very very seriously, I agree with JD. Throw that useless crap away and get some acrylic. Though I wouldn't totally dis Apple Barrel paints, as Chewie over at Yakface/Rebelscum uses them on his customs and they turn out amazing! (he just waters them down a bit before using them) Definitely try: Citadel Reaper

Enamel?
You're using enamel paint.
Shit. I'll have to check with the other guys, but I'm pretty sure we ban people here for using enamel paint. Just for their own good.
Throw that crap away. It is not what you need to be using on action figures.
Acrylic paint is the only way to go.
Period.
Testors paints are not too bad, the results can vary bottle to bottle however and the paint tends to harden in the bottle before you can use it.
Reaper paint, as Dion mentioned, is very good. They make some great metallic colors and the thickness of the paint is just right for drybrushing.
Sanyo Gunze and Tamyia paints are probably one of the best paints around, but they can be...difficult...to work with. You need to stir them rather than shake them before you use them. Between the two the color selection is second to none. The guy that makes the first brand, Sanyo Gunze, they call him Mr. Color if that gives you any idea. The down side is that they are both made in Japan and can be difficult to find.
Overall, Citadel/Gamesworkshop paints are the best. They work great for base coats, drybrushing and wetbrushing or washes. They are easy to work with and are not too pricey. They also can be difficult to find too.
I dont care what Chewie says, Apple Barrel paints are crap. The paint chips off.

Umm, apple barrel I don't care for, but delta dreamcoat is pretty nice. As far as watering down, I hope all of you are watering down your GW paints, lol. Don't sweat them, Spuda, lots of people start with enamels, they are readily available and if you have ever done a model set, you might already have them. But yeah, switch to acrylic, its cheaper, really, side by side at walmart. I would avoid the larger sets and just buy the little tubes. As you progress, you can move into the more expensive paints, GW or citadel is the next step up, with valejo and taimaya after that, but take your time, paint is expensive. And get new brushes, enamel did a number on some brushes I had, And while we're at it, let me save you a few headaches, basecoat with primer, out of a spray can. I think HE uses automobile primer, I use krylon, just find whatever works. And be careful around these guys, they spend a ridiculous amount of money on toys, just to paint, lol, but if you live like the rest of us, take it slow, find out what works before you mess up a whole giant lot of toys by using the wrong paint or technique. Speaking of this board's job to teach, go post on my ST6 cirriculum thread, founders!

haha I need to learn to keep my mouth shut... Yeah I have learned from you guys to get the acrylics a long time ago I've just been too cheap to get any. I have a little extra cash from my girl's tax refund so I'm going to order some finally! I am also going to strip the enamel paint off my old customs and fix them right with better paint. BTW I love how everyone told me what KIND of paint to use.... but not any idea for the actual custom!!!!

Some color coordination would be a big help but some additional armor and/or a few different parts would make it far cooler (and take it that much fruther away from being a Joe wearing a SW helmet).

yeah, plus, we don't like hasbro enough to let any of their paint shine through, lol.
I didn't get any flak on "these guys spend a crap load on toys" wow, and I had the "HE customizes toys that cost 200 dollars and sends joe collectors into frenzy by customizing rare or collectible figures" in the chamber.
LOL

ha... yeah I'm going to do a total repaint. But as far as different armor and such I was going to add gauntlets to the wrists and a few other things but other than that I'm not sure what to do.

You said you are getting some sculpting stuff, yeah?
I'd say sculpt a few small peices of armor on the torso, kinda like the female Mandos that came out a while back.

Well I opted out of sculpting... partly because I won't be getting the stuff for a while and I'm impatient and I liked the armor style to begin with. I figure less is more on this one. I'll throw some pictures up of the final painted project and you guys can tell me what you think.
