[Scroll down a few posts for new design] Okay, so, I've been trying to come up with a design for Slash, the third member of the Blades family in my Reign of the Serpent universe (...Slash is female in this reality). What I have so far of her backstory is hereand a little bit hereI want her to fit with my Slice and Dice customs (first linked post). I've been having some trouble coming up with a design, so I broke out my drawing tablet and decided to try some concept art. This is really my first attempt at a completed piece, so I apologize for the crappiness, but hopefully you can get some idea the design I'm going for.  I'm only posting this here because a) pretty much everyone whose opinion I respect posts here b) I don't like to post any kind of WIP pics usually c) Me posting comic-style artwork probably wouldn't go well. Thoughts? Anything working? Anything not working? If I go with this design, I'm thinking Lady Jaye for the main body, new baroness legs, and some sculpting. Fireside Padme's arms would be perfect, but I'm fresh out of those, so I'll probably end up having to do scuplting on those, too. |

This is just my opinion but she looks too X-23 as she is now. I hope you won't hate me for that, I have a feeling that was definitely not your inspiration. Give her some sort of armor. I like the claws, keep those, maybe just widen them up a bit? Change her hair color or put streaks in it or shorten it, just make it look like something different, more wild maybe. Put some funky colored lipstick and eyeshadow on her face. Unless you want her to look just like a typical Asian woman, and just one who happens to like wearing metal claws out on the town.  I dunno, man, just some brainstorming ideas, feel free to ignore me, I won't blame you in the least.  |

I dig what you got going on there.
After clicking the link that JD posted I can kinda see the x-23 resemblance, but I think art translates to plastic differently. A drawing is one thing, but I'll wager the figure based of this art will look just fine.
Though, I do agree with JD on one point there. She needs a bit of armor. Maybe even some sort of face shield.
I dunno, thats just me.

Yeah, a vanity, vega style face plate(was that vega) would be ok. I actually get more of a pythona vibe off her than x-23, yeah, she has claws, and is a brunette, but thats about all the similarity I can see, now if she has a claw in her foot, lol. I'm assuming you are just giving her the standard ninja claws, though, There are a lot of traditional japanese weapons that our ninja fans never want to use, maybe the fans, a spear, or that chain weapon thing. I'm the last person to ask about females, but it might be neat to not fem her up, maybe put those two little sticks in her hair(not sure how, but they seem to hold hair in place). I think its awesome that you posted this here, it became pretty apparent to me very quickly that pretty much everyone I talk to and want to hear from on other boards is here as well. |

Cool. Concept art is awesome. If I am doing a fig from scratch and don't know how I'm going to do it I usualy sketch something up too. I love seeing the transformations an idea goes through from concept to reality. as far as your concept goes I don't know what to think. I do think it looks very x-23ish. I like the idea of giving her armor, a removable facemask/faceplate would be cool however I hate seeing a girl's face covered up  . If she is supposed to be asian I'd make her skin color darker. some of those ninja fans might be a cool adition but might clash with the claws. |

A) Not asian
B) I think that fans and hair pins would turn her into Kitana from Mortal Kombat.
C) I thought of a face mask, but it would need to be removable (since both Slice and Dice's are), and they don't make a ton of masks that can fit over female hair. The only idea I thought of that might work is hollowing the face of either the animated Padme or the Animated Asajj Ventress and attaching elastic. It could look good, or I could kill an $8 figure that is utterly useless beyond the head (stupid animated figures).

Oh and for the arms I would suggest the fireside padme figure's arms. Thos would work great with the design.

Decided to see what a mask and tonfa style swords would look like. And I should stop giving Liefeld crap...breasts are a pain in the ass to draw. I now understand the temptation to just turn them into torpedoes and call it good. |

Okay, here's my latest design. I didn't mess too much with the body, since no one seemed to have an issue with the main costume. I added the mask and changed the weapons.  Any thoughts? How are the mask markings working? I had a few ideas for them, but liked the blood tears most. |

Very nice. I really dig the mask.
The tonfa swords are nice as well and yeah, I like the design of the uniform/body. I look forward to seeing this in figure form.

I didn't realy comment on the outfit. I like it all except for the zipper in the front... Idk it just looks like it'd be hard to sculpt to me.
Perhaps a full body tight jumpsuit might work? with the same color patterns?

Here's my opinion bro.. I like the mask, the blood tears, and the tonfa swords.. For me not very cool with the uniform. I would make it a little like a jinx-like costume.. maybe a leather-like from the DDue. If she's a decent from a Ninja Clan, you could maybe use a traditional outfit with modern armor.
For me it's not working as I currently thinking of this as a Mortal Kombat costume.
But I'm just a critic. It's either consider or ignore me.. That's just my opinion though
