So the first time I saw this figure in the store I went... hey he has a trilobite for a shield, thats pretty awesome! here look: Soo... this is what I've been wanting to do eversince I saw that. I have litterally a TON of these little fossil trilobites from utah called "elrathia kingi" (it's the same species as the couple pictures I put up there.) A large one is pretty rare as most of them are only an inch or smaller but I do have one that is 2 inches long and pretty good sized. I was thinking about making not only a shield for the mon calamari warrior out of one of these trilobite fossils but also an entire set of chest armor with small partial trilobite fossils overlapping each other in a kind of chain mail type armor.... IDK how it would turn out but I think it would look pretty cool... oh and then also using a long curled shell for the end of the spear/blaster instead of what it is now. what do you guys think? do you think it's a good concept or should I sculpt my own parts from apoxi instead of using the actual fossil?

the chest armor sounds like the stuff that grew on Darth Bane (you can see it on the Evo pack action figure)
i'd sculpt it even though the trilobite idea is great

I might sculpt the armor but I definately want to use a real one for the shield... and maybe make a large shark tooth knife for it too.

I looked at the darth bane figure again and although it's vaugely similar it realy isn't what I had pictured in my mind for this one. I think I'm going to do it just to see if I can pull it off as a challenge to myself to work in a medium that isn't usually used.

I thought about picking up some of those for my verse, as I have a star empire who's ships (most of them at least) are based on a Trillobite like creature.
Using the actual fossil would be cool! Adds a new element to customizing!

Straxus I might have a couple that I could mail to ya. I collected a TON of trilobites while out in utah. If your not too woried about them being perfectly preserved specimens with parts missing and such then I might be able to get you a few. I've been cleaning them and they could be considered "jewelry quality".
I might have 3-4 specimens under an inch that I'm more than happy to part with. If you wanted to I could even send you some of the stones which havn't been cleaned that still have the fossils embedded in them... but shipping would probably suck on those....

That would be cool! No rush on that right now though. It will take me a while till I could get around to the project I would need them for. What you want in trade for them?
