ok so I just purchased a black hawk helicopter from toys-r-us, it was one of the cheap "true heroes" ones, only about 25 bucks. I like the helicopter in and of itself but it definately needs a makeover. here lies my quandry. I was going to just repaint it, add some touch ups here and there, make the interior more accurate, add a machine gun to one side of the passenger area, add support strut "wings" for added weoponry, add a machine gun to the nose, and add an external radar sphere to the nose as well. but then I saw this thing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu2CwHwxJYAit's called the speedhawk. Aperently a hybrid helicopter which makes it faster than a normal copter.... it looks pretty cool... but I don't know if I could pull it off as a custom. the ducted tail fan would be the hardest part.

I wonder if the Sting Raider or Whale fans would work. That would be a sweet custom copter.

thats a good idea... lol I asked the boys what they thought I should do and they liked the idea of the heavy armed version of the normal chopper better than that speedhawk thing. I might save that for another time with another chopper.

The Whale fans would be the perfect size for that. The Sting Raider fans would too small.
You should be able to get the pieces off Ebay for a reasonable amount of money.
I have the BBI Pavehawk, I've not been able to bring myself to tear into it to customize it as it is an awesome toy!

Looks like it wouldnt be too hard of a custom to make.

here are some shots of the copter. All I've done with it so far is removed most of the sticker decals. The ones that had the "real heroes" logo on it... yeah... I need to clean off the sticker residue off the front. I plan on opening the thing up and painting the inside of the cockpit up to to match a reference picture I found of the black hawk's instrument pannel. hey guys, anyone know what the guns that are mounted on the cargo bays usually consist of and where I can find some 1:18 scaled versions of them???

hmmm I'll figure something out I'm sure.
does anyone know if the machine guns are still mounted on the sides if the copter has the external struts which support the missiles and such mounted as well? I would assume that they would... there is also a gun mounted on the chin of the copter and I wonder what I should use for it.

I've never seen an externally mounted machine gun on a Blackhawk and most certainly not a chin gun nor missiles. A Blackhawk is not a combat aircraft. It's for transport.
They have large caliber (probably 50cal) sticking out of the windows that are between the pilot and the doors.
I've seen and flown in enough of them to know.

chin gun: fueling vane yay heres a pic of the gun: "A UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter Crew Chief Holds an M240G Medium Machine Gun During a Flight" another pic of the armed black hawk. so.... although I doubt they are widely used they do have versions of the blackhawk which are outfitted with weopons.

Huh.
Not seen ANY of those here in theater.
They use Apaches and Kiowas for combat and Blackhawks for transport here.

I figure that these are older unused modifications of the black hawk, with the newer apaches and other choppers that were built specifically for direct combat that the black hawk would be more suited for transport only. I'm sure that with the added payload of missiles and machine guns the armed black hawk's passanger load would be diminished since the weight would be significantly increased.

Yeah, pretty much.
They are REALLY picky about the amount of weight they have on board....
If you cant strap it to your back or hand hold it...piss off and find another ride.
Oh....but what a ride!
