Im gonna bulkin up the waist a bit more. The color scheme looks fine, but 'off' to. I dont like it.....But then again I do.... Open to any suggestions.....Thanks. The figure looks great in these surroundings, but thats not what I had in mind.....Something darker, but not sinister.

I like it. Perhaps a thin black wash over the paint would give it that darker tone you're aiming for without actually darkening the color?

I think it's the helmet. It looks like it is too bulky in the front and not enough on the sides. IDK, the helmet just doesn't say mando to me.
The armor looks good, I like the use of parts, but it just doesn't say mando to me at all.
I think the waist looks fine....

Honestly, it really does not look much like Mandolorian armor at all.
It does have a sci-fi look to it, but just not what usually passes for Mando stuff.
Create a different backstory for the figure, there are far too many people making Mandos out there already (especially for a race/faction/whatever that was more or less wiped off the face of the Galaxy and were rare to the point of almost being concidered mythical).

I'm with Dan, its a good looking fig. Don't limit yourself to the mandos alone, they were brought to near extinction what, a thousand years before Yavin? Its amazing there are as many around as the canon verse portrays, Maybe a mando killer, wait, wasn't durge a mando killer?

HAHAHA! You guys are comin at me with all this SW history.....I have no idea what your talking about! The most I know is that a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away......there was a Jedi-Mandolorian war. and to say the least, the Jedi went through them like taking over a Country with weapons of mass destruction in less than two weeks.......
My Son and I simply like Mandos. We have a whole team at our house! And this one just isnt fitting in.
Spuda.....The Helmet??? Oh, the emotional pain! Out of everyone on this board, I figured you'd be the one to appreciate it most. I hear what your saying though....it is odd for a Mando, but in a good way. Besides, it was a bitch to sculpt. Maybe I should add the little guidance system on the side of his helmet?
Whos Yavin? Durge a Mando killer? I thought he was a Mando.....

Yavin is the planet that the moon with the Rebel Base was orbiting in Star Wars, Simon is referring to the Battle Of Yavin. Durge was a Mando killer, reportedly the best in the history of the Galaxy.

Hell, I like the rule "it ain't star wars til he gets a lightsaber" a rule, I, too, follow, In fact your line about "declaring war on Kimino" got me thinking I'd like to rewrite my own fanverse, Well, if I was looking at it, without being a fluff nazi(err, extremist), I'd say the helmet does not have smooth lines, something all mandos pretty much have. Its kind of odd that guy known for brutality and combat effectiveness manage to keep their helmets in such a great shape with the most dedicated having, what, once scrape? Then, again, NFC made a fraggin viking mando and that worked just fine.

I think it's fine for a Mando if that's what you and your son dig. I don't mind the helm, it has the t shaped eye portion which is what I think of when I think Mando, but then again I'm not a huge SW buff.

Oh, I do agree that there are far too many Mandos....FETT-UP with FETT!! I knew they were rare in numbers after the war, but not to the point of almost beeing mythical! That adds to the mystery behind the Mandos making them even cooler! Personally, I like seeing different takes on Mandos cause there such interesting characters, but there will only be TWO in my verse, Janco and Boba. Yeah, my Son is silly with those light sabers. Most of the time in our play, his character uses the force to remote control his light saber to come after me....... I go with it..... Smooth lines? Are you refuring to the light color surronding the T on like Janco and Boba?

The body needs some touches of red or yellow, just little details to break up the black, gray, and silver; plus it all looks factory-new. I always preferred Boba's worn-in look to Jango's clean look. It speaks more bad-assery when you can see a guy's experience in his very armor, imho.
The helmet isn't rounded on top, like every other Mando helmet I've ever seen. That plus the lack of the viewfinder and the excessive height of the flanges on either side of the T all add up to a not-Mando helmet. It also doesn't help that the T is silver instead of the usual black. I would file the head rounder, file down the flanges, then swap the colors; as it's the only piece of armor on him that's not silver. Also, fill in the groin notches since those never look good on any fig, imho.
But it is a very keen recipe, man. I wish I could find more Elites to fiddle with them like this.

I don't know, the helmet looks more substantial to me than a mando helmet normally does, they always look smaller, sleeker, than a japanese motorcyle helmet or something.
This looks menacing, mostly because, when I see it, I think "holy shit the black Knight is here, chop his head off!"

If he's a Mando that lives around the same time as your Sith Lord from last week, I say round off the helmet some more and go with the it as it is. Yeah, it's way way untraditional but that's not a bad thing.

Yeah AV, I definatly am gonna add some more coclor. Hell, I might even change his entire color scheme. I was originally thinking yellow and orange anyway so,......... But the helmet....Hmmmm....I was going for this left field approach with the design. The squareness, the long flanges on the side......Not your normal Mando helmet. Im suprised its backfiring. Im gonna add the view finder and go from there. And the silver T.....Ummmm yeah, cast your stones! Imma take a page from NFC and see what type of swoop can be devoloped outta trouble bubble.... "The Black Knight is here" That reminds me of the rescue scene on Wild Hogs! "Holly crap! Its the Golden Knight" Thanks for the encouragment Simon ;D

I like it, the only thing I would add would be a splash of color like AV said, but nothing major.

color too.
its your figure, if you and your son like it then who are we to say anything? lol

Im gonna add the view finder and go from there. And the silver T.....Ummmm yeah, cast your stones! I'm just saying what came to mind, man. As always everywhere, it's your fig and it should accomplish what you want it to accomplish. I know I've made some choices on my figs that others thought I was crazy to make (but what do all those blind, spastic hacks know, anyway?!?!) But, there's like 6 or so official Mando figs from Hasbro; with how many official ones seen in the comics and such; and so far as I know every single one of them has the rounded top with the black T and 'thin flanges'. After a while certain characteristics become mando-tory (HA! I KILL ME!) or else you've gone too far afield as to not be the same sort of character. You've just made too many changes from the Mando helmet recipe that I'm not seeing a Mando helmet anymore. It looks like the Astro-BAT head with the spikes filed off. And it's still not quite right that you've got silver armor on black padding (as I'm seeing the black border around the various plates) everywhere and then suddenly on the helmet the color ratio is reversed from mostly-silver with a little black to mostly-black with a little silver. It's like how you're never gonna see the Fantastic Four in purple and yellow uniforms.

Yeah AV! I think thats the problem! The tipsy topsy color scheme. However, that type of color scheme was sucssesful on my Fe-Mando. Its just not working here.
The color scheme has got to go! Im gonna make a removable belt for it too......
And I appriciate everyones help! Im not trying to be a smart ass, (just crazy as AV puts it....hehehe) but theres certain things that every customizer will be stuck on. For this piece, its the helmet.

Does he HAVE to be a Mando?
It's a strong figure, I dig it.
I mean, yeah, he doesn't look Mando, but does he need to?

Toby's such a smart ass seriously, keep working on him, post more WIPs this weekend, I'm looking forward to the new color scheme. Like I said, I think if he's a Mando from a 1000 or 2000 years ago, the helmet works nicely because the t-visor has ALWAYS been a part of the Mando helmets but everything else has evolved a lot with their armor of the years. Fett, Dala, Shysha, Bralor, Mareel, and such all just happen to wear the "modern" style that most people imagine when they think of Mandalorians.

There's something wrong with being a smart-ass? Somebody shoulda told me years ago! Im sure someone has.....but, but what do all those blind, spastic hacks know, anyway?!?! End results! And thats not a bad thing......No traditional MANDO-Tory traits for this Mando! So, I started painting this thing last night.....an Orange and yellow scheme. Those results.....I SUCK!! I PHAIL! You know you stalled out hard core when you need help chosing a paint scheme..... When all else fails....paint it black!!
