To start I picked this figure up on ebay, it was $12.99 with shipping from China. I have to say it was a damn fine investment. This figure, while not Ripcord in my verse, is a fuckin' amazing work of art. That's right a work of art. Hasbro really got this figure right.
What's so great about this figure that I took the time to write this review you ask, well here are some of the reasons.
The colors are awesome. It's a very dull palette of earth tones with just hints of a light blue, think reflective surfaces like the "cats eyes" on the back of K-pots.
The gear is a nice mix and balance of traditional pouches with high tech equipment. The helmet is a semi-transparent plastic that gives the appearance of being some bullet proof polymer (we're talking toys here so use your imagination). The pack is one of the coolest accessories made to date, especially if your verse is a pseudo-scifi futuristic one. Hasbro finally got the spring loaded accessory right with the pack on this guy, push a button and the wings snap up. And Ripcord here isn't about to sit around like a bitch and be taken down by no Cobra Trouble Bubble or some lame Air Trooper. While I'm not a huge fan of the rifle he comes with I do love the pistol and ankle holster. Oh and his pack is equipped with two air to air/surface missles (again use your imagination for their uses. Hell they're even placed in a semi realistic area if you can imagine that his sleeves are fire resistant, which is easy sine they have great armor sculpted on to them.
It seems that the sculptors really took notice with this figure. The torso seems to be the standard ROC armored torso but the arms no longer suffer from anorexia. The upper legs also appear to be reused, although I'm not sure, the lower legs I believe are new, but who knows with Hasbro. Since I'm not a completeist I've passed on most of the armored figures but I have to say if they all look like this I'll be picking up more. Hell I'll be army building ol' Ripcord here.
He has entered the top three figures from Hasbro since the 25th started production. He is third to ROC Desert Zartan (#1) and Alley Viper (#2). I highly HIGHLY recommend this figure.
Look at all this fucking cool gear!!!
And this figure is a damn fine one!
All geared up:
Look at that face mask!
From the back
Wings deployed
Wings deployed from back
GET THIS!!! IF NOT FOR YOU FOR ME!!!
Plans for this figure;
I'm working on finishing a figure I've wanted in my verse for months but haven't had the right parts and accessories for until now, he's secret until revealed.
Other uses (when I get more and I WILL get more!);
Making a super kick ass respectable Raptor!!!
Destro's T.A.R.G.A.T.s
Air Recon BATS
