what started as a simple project to put a blue LED light into the movie war machine figure (the 4" fig).... has turned into a massive curse inducing mindfuck of a project.
I started out by popping apart the chest. This resulted in about 6 different pieces falling onto the table, my lap, and the floor... *CURSES*
I then had to figure out just how all the parts went back together... when I figured that out I started to cut off and remove unneeded parts...
I then found 2 tiny button cell batteries that would power an LED and tried to find out how to put them in there....
after about an hour of trying to get my first battery configuration working I tried puting the bottom half back on the figure and the batteries were in the way....
*curses*
I decided a different battery would work better, and tried a new configuration that was able to fit the bigger battery....
only I had to remove the torso joint and split open the bottom half of the figure and remove that peg...
*curse...*
I finally got the LED in there and working so I tried to rig up a switch system that used one of the weapon mounts.... after 45 minutes of fucking with that I gave up, hard wired the LED so that it would stay on, put the chest back together and gingerly set it on top of the bottom half of the figure to take a photo....
bottom line is that it looks amazing with the light in there... only I lost one point of articulation which means he won't be able to twist, or flex in the center of the torso... AND the LED being hardwired on had no switch to turn it off... so i've got to figure that out....
*curses...
ha... well, heres the photos. I'm sure you guys will enjoy looking at this masacre.
all the many pieces of War Machine:
the battery is shoved into the space where the torso joint used to be.... the LED wires are then wrapped around it to make it work... eventually I'll solder in a switch somehow.
no more torso joint... I still don't know how I'm going to attach the two halves of the figure together once I finish the wiring... maybe a small screw through the back?
But... you have to admit, even if the torso joint is missing (which it is missing in the other light up IM so we arn't loosing much when you think about it...) the effect of the LED in the chest is pretty awesome...
well... any suggestions?
