Liftoff asked me to do him up a Captain America similar to my own, in payment for a couple of ML figs (Psylocke and Wndigo, if it matters - Psylocke might well end up becoming Lilith - Not Safe For Work, Children, or Wives!!!).
I figure some of y'all might appreciate seeing the surgery involved, so here you go. The parts are the MU Captain America, a random BnB fig with ab and arm musculature approrpriate for Cap (I think this is Randy Orton here, but I think I used HHH on mine), and a 25A COBRA Trooper for the thighs and knees. Lifty liked the head of the Indy IV German Biker so that's what we've got here.
The pin/socket joint between the shoulder and hindarm is similar enough between the MU and BnB figs to not need any work done, altho I think the 'mushroom cap' of the MU pin coming out of the shoulder is longer than the BnB one and so needed a millimeter or two of trimming to fit in the hindarm socket.
I should've taken a pic before I glued the chest onto the abdomen, but there's not a whole lot here you're not seeing. The BnB chest was dremeled away until there's about 2mm of material going up into the Cap chest beyond the seam you're seeing here. I ground so much meat away there's basically just some 'flash' hanging off the 4 sides of the perimeter of the ribcage; and those are holding onto the inner curve of the MU chest socket. I'll need to put in some putty to smooth out the transition.
He retains all the poseability of the BnB fig, but now has the cool details of the MU fig (namely the scale mail chest and romper-stomper boots) but without the MU's liabilities (puny arms, and inability to capture Cap's agility, imho). I prefer the military look of the Trooper thighs here, but I'm sure the original MU thighs could be adapted to the BnB hips (probably easier since they're beefier). I kept the top of the MU calves and fitted them to the Trooper's bottom knee by trimming off the top of the MU knee curve about 1mm's thickness as the holes wouldn't line up without it, and kept the Trooper pin as the MU was too fat the fit thru the Trooper knee pass-thru. No problems with that pin fitting the Cap bits.
Here's the innards of the seam between the BnB hips and Trooper thighs. I cut the BnB thigh in half, after pulling the hip out of it, then shaved it down so it'd fit in the hole I drilled into the Trooper thighs after having cut the rounded hip portions off them. I drilled down into the Trooper thighs to a point about even with the bottom of the screwhead, so as to not damaging the knee.
