Friend of mine who has some interest in Warhammer 40K brought over some miniatures yesterday. He wanted some help scratch building a frame to add parts to for a new miniature. We didn't get a lot done, though we did peice together a framework and added the head and some plates. I built the internal structure from copper wire, old saga Bacara legs and arms, a darth vader torso and some messed up cast parts. I mixed up the sculpting material and let him put it together as he wanted. I will probably finish up the rest of the sculpting detailing at some point.

Interesting, some kind of Tyranid? Looks like it's going to be huge.

Ya was a pretty big miniature. He had one he brought over he called spike that was pretty much as tall as a Joe figure. Those Tyranids inspired me. Planning on some monster customs now...

Yeah, I've had my eye on that fucker for several weeks now, but the $50 is a bit steep at the moment. I was able to bite on the Temple of Skulls set, tho. I should be able to show of what I've done with that shortly.

I have been trying to figure out which warhammer things are close to joe scale and which arent for a while now.

Technically, nothing is Joe scale. But monsters don't have a mandatory scale so they're fudgeable. I was thinking of articulating that Tyrannid with some Kotobukiya and/or Revoltech joints. Can you take some more pics before y'all start surgerating it a lot so I can figure out if that's feasible? It would suck to throw $50 down the toilet like I did on the Drop Pod.

I know nothing is joe scale, perhaps I should have said, adapatable to joe scale.

Here is a side by side. I only have the one I am working on here. He took the others back with him.

Jimbo, what is the Drop Pod made out of?? You mean materials-wise? I dunno. It's perfectly workable as any other plastic a toy's been made out of, tho. It's basically a model kit with thick pieces, if that helps. The second pic here is what I got, I'm not sure if there are variations or if the other versions are display customs. All five panels work, and need something in the joints to gum them up so they're not all floppy. It's a really keen piece, altho pricey at $30. If they were a bigger operation it'd really only justify being priced about $10, truth be told. The interior's just about as tall as a Joe fig's legs and the thickness of his torso, so he should be able to sit in it, but the width of the floor isn't quite enough for the length of his head and torso. But, that was due to me rigging it such that one of the drop panels was the cockpit opening directly over his head, meaning that the seat crossed over the bottom 'vane' and wasted some room that could've been available if I'd turned the thing around so that he sat on one of the drop panels with the opposite vane directly over his head and leaving two drop panels to open for the cockpit, if that makes any sense. I'd offer you mine at a discount but I've hacked it up too much to be of any use to someone wanting to work from scratch. I ended up using the top center 'power core' bit for my Wolvie Bacta Tank thing, which might give you a better idea of the Pod's size.
