man... after seeing all yall's sculpted awesomeness mine looks pretty plain... :/ I wish I'd taken the time to sculpt in some wrinkles or something on the bottom half of the torso...

man... after seeing all yall's sculpted awesomeness mine looks pretty plain... :/ I wish I'd taken the time to sculpt in some wrinkles or something on the bottom half of the torso... wrinkles, yeah okay, I can see that. but I'm willing to bet a lot of the sculpting some of are doing isn't necessarily for the sake of scuplting to show off, so much as its because there's certain things we want on the torsos that are achievable by gluing stuff on. You needed bes'kar plates so could glue those down... I need a non-descript low-key civilianish look so ALL I was able to glue onto mine was a freakin' belt and then I had no choice but to sculpt EVERYTHING else... and I think I've gone overboard actually. Daremo did all the sculpting on his becausethe new few Ninja torsos that Hasbro's done are bullshit. They aren't baggy or detailed enough and not good for the look he wants on his ninja suits but they were there so he made do. Now he has a chance to make the perfect ones he needs for his ninjas. And whatever the hell Dark Horse is doing with his, even at this early stage it's clear Hasbro hasn't made anything that's even similar so all sculpt was probably his best bet. so yeah, your Mando torso isn't boring, it fills the role you needed the torso to work for, don't worry about it.

Yeah man, don't worry about it. You sent me what will be a great blank Mando Body. It is exactly what you needed for your work, and probably what other star wars guys need for theirs. The reason I did this was so that you guys could test out the blank bodies, and get a chance to show off AND get something into production that would never show up in the stores. As long as you did that, I'm happy with what you sent.

Just a little update. I have the two mandos and the adventurer ready to pour rubber on. I should have casts ready to show on Monday. I molded spuds blank guy once already but I got distracted and forgot to pressurize the pot. WOOPS.

First off, Daremo's ninja looks even better in person. Second, I got NFC's street clothes bad ass in the mail tuesday and it is really nice too. And the head looks good on the big man body. I don't think he will mind if I show a pic.

no I don't mind at all, it's your project and thread. it doesn't look as good as I'd hoped in the picture... I'm worried all the flaws with the sculpt will come through in the casts and it'll be laughed at for looking like crap.

It is also at least three times bigger in the picture than in real life. So every little nick is blown up into a gouge. Dont worry, I think when it is all one piece of resin it will look fine.

damn those final casts came out awesome! I can't wait to get my other stuff back from you.
any chance your still willing to do a quick photo tutorial to show how you build your molds?
and as a side note... I wish I'd sculpted some wrinkles on the gut/neck of my first mando so that it looked more like he had a shirt on underneath his armor. :/ oh well. the pouches hanging off the side came out alot better than I'd imagined! looking forward to getting those back from you... already have projects in mind for them!

I'm excited to see my work immortalized like that! ...but the picture being 6 times the size of the torso itself still can't explain away that flaw and rough spot in my sculpting job will be painfully obvious in the casts. In fact, I think the CAST is too good for my work here! Losing some detail in the reproduction process might've been an improvment. Shit, the added green stuff on his face didn't make for a smooth enough sculpt, my imperfect work makes him look like a 1st-degree burn victim. Daremo's sculpting job is flawless even in the 600% enlarged photo! Sean, your work here is phenomenal. My work here is depressingly bad.

you are far too hard on yourself man. Wait till you get some paint on him.

you are far too hard on yourself man. Wait till you get some paint on him. Yeah, I agree. It has some flaws, but once you paint it, it'll be fine. Mine isn't flawess either. The paint will help out. I want to take a crack at another torso. Practice makes perfect.

You usually have to sand off a bit of flash, so smoothing a few tiny spots won't take a few secs.

Dude it's not that bad man. I like them all. Makes what I've been doing look like squat.

I agree with everyone here JD! Your too hard on yourself (as if the name change wasnt a clue). Theres areas in my sculpting that look like complete shit and the paint hides it right up. Like my batman, can you tell that one wing (on the bat symbol) is longer than the other.....and crooked! not through the paint app! and you know Im a detail freak, and it dosent even bother me anymore.
You know what Sean, send me one of JD sculpts! let me see what I can do......
