The F-302 was the hybrid space superiority fighter in the stargate saga of series... I've been wanting to do a 1:18th scale model of this vehicle for ages and have just gotten ahold of enough styrene that I think I'll be able to build it! anyway, if your not familiar with the vehicle here are some images I'm using as reference: a modeler's site with a detailed (smaller) replica: www.alfredsmind.ca/commissions/samples38.html

If you get it made I want one. I am hoping to get ahold of one of the crossover repaint warmachine that looks suspiciously like the 302.

It is a single pack black and gray version of this jet half of the craptastic combiner team.

ah gotchya sean. the transformer, I've seen that and now that you mention it, it looks alot like a 302...
viper.... I hope it's awesome when I get finished.
I've been working on it since I posted this this morning... and I found 2 seats that I was able to use in tandem so it will be like the series' version and be a two seater. I was originally thinking I'd have to scale it down to be a 1 seater version...
I do think I'm going to scale down the wings just a bit... as is it'll be way to big and I'll run out of styrene. I'm getting pretty frustrated right now though, the styrene I'm using is solid where as what I used to have was a foam core so it was easier to cut than this solid crap.
I've gathered up a bunch of pvc pipe and pipe fittings to try and construct the engines out of. It won't be acurate by any means as I'm scratchbuilding and making this crap up as I go along... I'm basically trying to build around the cockpit.
but I've ran into a mental block (probably cuz I worked last night and have been up since around 8:00pm yesterday and it's now noon.... so it's time to quit, take a long nap, and hopefully wake up with ideas on where to take this.
I'll try to post pictures when I get up...

I had monkeyed with the idea of making one of these with the cockpit from a SkyHawk and the SW Tornado, and lots of glue. I only got so far as a MSPaint Masterpiece: I also wonder what could be done with the MagnaGuard Fighter to make an 'F-320' or whatever the super-advanced, 20-years-on version would be like.

I remember that... did you send that to me or post it in a thread where I was asking about this same ship? I had a commisioner who asked me about making one for him and then disappeared...

Yeah, I've posted that before, probably at Tri-gate. It wasn't on my webpage server so it had to be some site with attachments ability.

What about using the cockpit from the helicopter that came with the GI Joe Rhino?

That's actually a pretty good damned idea, Strax. Who'd you steal it from?

Ummm I have that helicopter sitting next to me and I was thinking it would be a great base if I was actually motivated to make a F-302 for myself...

damn... that looks realy good adrien... off to e-bay to look for one...
I think the star wars vehicle is called the torrent...
I would have to observe one in hand before saying whether or not it'd work. From first glance about the only thing I see as useful on the torrent are the side wings and the two side engines, so it's just as easy to scratch build that.
What I'm realy needing is a two seater cockpit and I think I've managed to create that myself. It's going to be getting all the angles and engine details to mesh together that'll be dificult. I'm using pvc pipe for the engines and strait pieces of cut styrene for the shell so matching them up is going to take some apoxie sculpt I'm afraid!
I'll get some pics of the cockpit posted soon I hope.

Spud, why not use Bondo to match them up? Bondo has styrene in it so it should bond better and have more flexiblity than the apoxie sculpt.

straux you are a pure genious! I even have some bondo laying around somewhere... and for filling in cracks and crevaces that'll be a helluvalot better on this big of a project! I was worried I wouldn't have enough apoxi sculpt to do it.
damn guys... your making me nervous about this project now. I've got to make it and make it look good too!
I'm stressing over getting the angle of the wings right. Like I said I'm kind of making this up as I go along and havn't realy PLANNED anything. It would have been nice to have a diagram or something to go on but even then I think I'd screw something up.

here is what I have so far: the middile pipe won't be near that long when it's finished. I just stuck it there to kind of give a perspective on where that engine will be centered and how it'll compare to the other two engines.
