First off, I was surprised that these guys are totally different molds. I thought from online pics they were the same. The Air drone is quite a bit bigger, and they are big bastards to begin with.
They both have very different arm articulation as well.
Air Assault drone (my one doesn't have the backpack because I bought it from a thieving Chinese eBay dumpster diving cunt - but I'm gonna customise this one anyway).
Pretty average IM articulation, apart from the much discussed hip/ skirt problem. The hips can bend forward about 20 degrees because of the skirt. They can still do the splits because the skirt only covers the front.
The arms are different from the Weapon drone the most, they have Joe style elbows and ball jointed wrists.
I've also noticed that the sculpt on this is pretty crappy, in as much as if you look closely, the legs aren't symetrical.
Aside from that it's good. The neck has a good range of motion for flying poses, and it's just a big bit of plastic overall.
The Weapon assault drone is cool as well. From what I can see it has the same mold as the Ground assault drone (mine haven't arrived yet), only with different weapons.
The elbows are hinged like MU figures, only without the shoulder swivel. There is no wrist articulation due to them being set so far in the wrist armour. There are flip down sections of the wrist armour (but no detail inside) - I dunno what that's all about.
You get interchangable whips (long and short) and two different heads.
It suffers from exactly the same hip problem as the other drones, but apart from that, things are cool. Both figures are around 4 1/2" heigh, with the Air drone being the taller of the two.
