Speaking as one king sized nerd to another...
You know when you get a figure that's so cool, that's so goddamn exciting to open that you're friggin' hands are trembling so much that you're actually having difficulty removing said cool figure from its packaging?
Yeah. For me, Sideshow's 1/6th scale Firefly is THAT figure.
To be fair, the bulk of Sideshow's Joe merchandise has bestowed a similar plastic induced palsy upon me, but their rendition of Cobra's go-to sabotuer, is by far (for me at least) the best oe related figure they've shat out this year.
Okay. Let's get to the pics...
Packaging: One nice thing about Sideshow is that they definitely know how to stoke the fires of nostalgia that burn bright in the ticker of every true 80's kid.
That classic bomb blast backdrop and stamp of "COBRA ENEMY" + the file card= a solid slice of fried Joe gold.
Okay. Here's the fumble...
Yeah. That. Right there. Why is Firefly wearing a mask of solid gray? It's the query that sent a veritable amphitheater of nerds into an uproar. An uproar so load (and potentially violent) that Sideshow opted to include a spare, camo head. Good move, Sideshow. I'd have hated to see anything bad happen to you. Or your children.
Moving on...
Gear. Shitloads of it. Reminds me of that scene in Commando where Arnie straps on that massive vest. Only at a 1/6th scale...
10 bucks says that the designers really wanted the countdown to read 4:20...
I honestly don't mind the dark gray mask. Nor do I give a shit when a character is updated (or expanded upon) a bit. What does irk me, however, is Firefly's lack of the Cobra sigil...
One other (small) gripe- Firefly is too damn clean. Would've been nice if he'd been given a few splashes of mud here and there...
Shelved!
