The paint looks great, Vanko does not disappoint in the least. I see you decided against the back pistons. I was eyeballing up the ones on the back of movie HB & I think they'll look fine without them. Any plans for an alt. head?

I am debating doing an alternate head... the majority of the time in the movie he was unmasked so I am not dwelling on it currently.

I decided to go without the pistons on the back because unless they had 360 degree rotation at both ends, and worked, the articulation in the arms would have been hindered by them. I glued down the tips of the whips that wound around the wheels and then into the backpack and that hindered the movement quite a bit as well... so I didn't want to sacrifice posability.

thanks for the compliment. I'm happy with the paint-job. I took my time with it and worked slowly so as not to screw up too badly.

I used a "gunship grey" base-coat for the armor with "gunmetal" to do the armor detailing, and then a silver accent here and there, followed up by a silver and then black dry-brush for weathering. The worst thing about the gunship grey is that in normal light it looks fine, but then when a camera flash hits it it stands out alot lighter than it should be....

btw some pics are lit by a blacklight causing the whips to glow, this is not an added effect.

I think this may be one of my favorite customs to date, definately my favorite iron man based custom I've ever done....

I wish I had a steadier hand for painting those detail lines. That bugs me a little... and I don't have a good skin tone base so I didn't match the neck color to vanko's face, but most of the time you don't notice it unless you know what to look for....

just found this image that shows the helmet details a little bit from another angle:

also after seeing that image I'm pretty damn happy with the way the skirt armor came out on mine, it looks pretty close. I did take some artistic liberties with the paintscheme...

should I go back and re-paint him a more solid color to match the movie version?
