Is there a way to get actor-likeness heads?

I am sure it is for someone, but definately not me. This is day 5 for me with any kind of digital rendering remember.

ok I started working on this after dinner tonight. I absolutely suck at sculpting geometric things and there are few good cybernetic arms. My goal will be to render some good replacement limbs. I started this to see if I could figure out a way to get usable base. It is incredibly geometric and plain, but I need to start somewhere. I even put in a simple 4 fingered gimp hand. Now to see what it will cost me to order it. I built a variation on the double elbow in order to get more directionality without using the peg and ring style elbow joint. I think this will be stronger and easier to keep together. We shall see how it works. Opinions anyone?

Just popped into my head, but I can't wait to see the results of everyone's painted heads on your site.

Without swivel hindarm, this arm ain't working for me. I'd forego the hinge below the elbow and make the hindarm a two-piece bit with a swivel peg. That sub-elbow hinge is just gonna make the arm look like it's broken, imho.
As to getting rid of the blockiness, shave off the edges to make an octagon instead of a square cross-section. Not a lot of shaving, just half a millimeter should do. You can add in mechanical detailing for later iterations once you get the functionality down.
Good MFing core idea, tho.

Here is the pic of the joe scaled one. I added a loop to put the arm through that way it can be held a little more easily. I never bought the holding a BFG in one hand deal, and the two handed grasp never works right. www.shapeways.com/model/303349/

Hey Guys, I will probably be placing and order in the next couple of days. If anyone wants just one or two pieces and would like me to add them to my order so you don't have to fill up $25.00 lemme know.

Just a kid with a new toy. And oddly enough I have already gotten a couple commissions for design to cast work. Stuff that I will get a proto from the printer and then cast. I need to order me one of that shield I like how it came out.

One of my orders arrived today and man I am floored. Every single one of the pieces in the order printed perfectly. some of the surfaces aren't as smooth as injected molded plastic since the plastic is laid down in layers but I could not be more pleased. It is beyond awesome to see something that I designed completely virtually turned into a real Item. In order of their design. The Plain Transformers sword. Nothing special here, just a test drawing. Then came the Razor Mace And then there was The Reactive Armor Shield. This came out so well. And the power glaive to go with it. Last but not least there is teh dual plasma cannon These are all printed in Transparent Detail, and each comes in its own little bag for transport. I will try to get pictures taken of them with figures later this evening. I could not be happier, I am as giddy as a school girl.

Those are beyond awesome! Did you get any polished versions? They should look even better.
I can't wait to get my hands on the chained weapons you made.

No I didn't get any in polished. I figure once I lay a coat of Future ink wash on em they will me smooth as glass. These were actually in my second order, my bigger order has been delayed, there was a problem printing a piece by another designer.

All of that stuff looks awesome!
They gave you a warning about posting a link to their site? That kinda seems like not a good way to attract customers.

Every now and then, someone comes up with a technique or finds a product that brings customising to a new level. We have the latest one here. These things look fucking epic! Hope you get loads of sales, mate! And now that linking to shapeways has gotten me an official Board Warning I feel more like one of the family. This is fucking pathetic. JC should just ban averyone apart from the Clique and make themselves a private board. Even though they already have their secret section and a seperate private board. It's not enough for them and they have to hunt down anyone who comes up with something original that they can't control, especially if you have an opinion on it. Petty, petty people.
